- Renders based on CAD files of an upcoming Sony flagship phone (likely the Sony Xperia XZ4) just hit the internet.
- Based on the renders, the Sony Xperia XZ4 will look a lot like the Xperia XZ3, but feature a triple rear camera setup and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.
- The Sony Xperia XZ4 is expected to launch in February at Mobile World Congress 2019.
Frequent smartphone leaker @OnLeaks just posted some renders based on CAD files of an upcoming Sony flagship smartphone, very likely to be called the Sony Xperia XZ4 (via MySmartPrice). The rendered photos and video give us a full, 360-degree look at the as-yet-unannounced smartphone.
The Sony Xperia XZ3 only launched at the end of August this year, and the Sony Xperia XZ2 only launched at the end of February. It appears Sony is going to try to release a new XZ model once every six months or so, with this Xperia XZ4 likely launching at Mobile World Congress in February 2019.
From the renders, the Xperia XZ4 appears to look very similar to the Xperia XZ3, albeit with two major differences. The first difference is that instead of a single camera sensor on the rear, the XZ4 appears to pack three camera sensors. We don't know any specs for those sensors, but it likely will mean the XZ4 will take some pretty great photos.
The second difference is the lack of a rear fingerprint sensor. We expect the sensor to instead be side-mounted, possibly on the power button. It is, of course, possible that Sony will use an in-display fingerprint sensor to keep up with companies like OnePlus and Samsung, but the renders suggest a side-mounted deal.
Check out the rendered images below and also the 360-degree YouTube video:
As far as physical dimensions go, the Sony Xperia XZ4 will measure 166.9 x 72.4 x 8.2mm, at least according to these renders. That makes it slightly taller and slightly thinner than the Xperia XZ3.
What do you think? Does the Sony Xperia XZ4 look like more of the same from Sony, or are you excited for this new device to launch? Let us know what you think in the comments!
