Leaked LG V35 ThinQ render suggests no display notch

Update (05/04/18): It looks like we may have received our first peek at the LG V35 ThinQ (seen above), courtesy of Android Headlines. The render shows a phone that looks similar to the LG G7 ThinQ, save for two features.

The render shows a phone that has a horizontal dual-camera layout, as opposed to the G7's vertically stacked rear shooters. Then there's the lack of a notch on the display, featuring a Samsung-style top bezel instead.

Is this the real deal though? We'll have to wait and see, but V30 and V30s ThinQ owners might feel short-changed if the V35 ThinQ is released in the next few months. The vanilla V30 was released in September 2017, while the ThinQ variant was revealed in February 2018.

It's also possible that the V35 is actually the rumored AT&T-exclusive device we've been hearing about.

The new phone is expected to pack dual 16MP rear cameras, an 18:9 OLED display (1440p), Snapdragon 845 chipset, and quad-DAC audio hardware.

Original article: Just days after LG confirmed the LG G7 ThinQ, rumors have surfaced suggesting that the next in its V-series of smartphones will be the LG V35 ThinQ. According to Android Headlines, the device will be released this year and will have features in common with the LG G7 ThinQ.

Android Headlines provided a number of details about that phone that it said have been provided by a reliable source. The device is believed to have a 6-inch QHD+ OLED display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and an 80-percent screen-to-body ratio. It's also tipped to lack a "notch."

The phone would also feature a dual-camera setup made up of two 16-megapixel cameras, one with f/1.6 aperture and 10-bit HDR compatibility and one with a wide-angle lens with a 107-degree field-of-view.

ThinQ is the branding that LG is giving to products that use its own artificial intelligence technology. As such, the V35 ThinQ will supposedly have plenty of AI capabilities including LG's AI Cam and Google Lens. Voice assistant functionality will be potentially improved by its use of far-field voice recognition that could allow the phone to hear your voice from up to seventeen feet away.

One of the highlights of LG V30 was its audio and it seems like LG may keep the focus on audio for the V35 ThinQ. It's alleged to include a 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC along with plenty of options for the user to adjust the sound to just how they like it.

Android Headlines seemingly got a peek at the marketing materials for the unit too. The V35 ThinQ will apparently "do you" better than ever before, while LG allegedly claims the edge-to-edge design has been crafted to "fit in the palm of your hand."

The detailed leak suggests the device is close to release — especially if promo material is in the works. We'd only just started hearing about the LG V30 at the end of July last year, ahead of its launch in early September. With two events lined up at the beginning of May, seemingly set-up to announce the release of the G7 ThinQ, perhaps LG will announce the V35 ThinQ at the same time.

It has previously been rumored that LG will unveil two flagships in May (though at the time it was suggested that the second device would be known as the G7 Plus), and further speculation hints that LG fans could have a choice between LCD or OLED displays. The G7 is tipped for an LCD screen, while the V35 ThinQ, like the LG V30, is likely to have an OLED.

Of course, this is all speculation for the moment: all we know for sure is that the G7 ThinQ will be announced on May 2. Where do you stand on the rumors? Give us your thoughts in the comments.
