- The Dish Anywhere app is now available on Android TV.
- This will allow Dish customers to watch on-demand, live, and recorded TV on their Android media player or smart TV.
- The app was previously only available on Android smartphones and tablets.
Customers of cable network Dish can now download its Dish Anywhere app to devices that support Android TV. While there has been a version of the app for Android mobile devices since 2013, the change should make watching TV via the app much more convenient for those with Android TV media players.
Dish Anywhere allows Dish subscribers to watch live, recorded, and on-demand TV on any device that supports the app. Now that it is available via Android TV, people can use Android media players such as the Xiaomi Mi Box and the Nvidia Shield.
In a statement, Dish Vice President of Product Management Niraj Desai said, "By expanding the DISH Anywhere app to Android TV, we're giving our customers more ways to view their content on devices they already own, at no additional cost."
To use Dish on your Android TV, you will need to be a Dish Customer. While all customers can access on-demand titles, only customers who have Hopper 3, Hopper with Sling, or First generation Hopper or compatible ViP receivers with a Sling adapter will be able to access live and recorded tv.
If you are a Dish customer with an Android TV device and you want to see what the new app is like, then click the button below to head over to Google Play and download Dish Anywhere now.
