Memorial Day weekend is upon us, and that means cookouts, Solo: A Star Wars Story, beach trips — and lots of awesome deals! Best Buy usually pulls out all the stops for its Memorial Day sale, and this year is no exception.
One of the big deals on offer this weekend from Best Buy is getting up to 50 percent off a Samsung Galaxy S9 or Galaxy S9 Plus. There's also offers that get you up to $300 off the same set of devices as well as the Samsung Galaxy Note 8. As usual, these deals require you to sign up for service with either Verizon, AT&T, or Sprint (no T-Mobile, unfortunately), and also subscribe to an installment plan.
The only trick with these deals is they are pretty specific, so we've broken it all down for you below!
AT&T
AT&T offers two upgrade programs: AT&T Next and AT&T Next Every Year. The former enables you to pay lower monthly payments over the span of 30 months, while the latter enables you to upgrade your device after only one year of a full 24 months of payments.
If you buy a Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, or Galaxy Note 8, you will get $300 off the full value of the device with either option. As an example, if you buy a Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus with AT&T Next, that means you'll pay $20.49 per month over the span of 30 months (total price: $614.70). With AT&T Next Every Year, you'll pay $25.62 per month over the span of 24 months (total price: $614.88) for the same Galaxy S9 Plus.
However, keep in mind that with AT&T Next Every Year, you must trade-in a device when you upgrade. In other words, don't sign up thinking you'll get a new phone in a year on top of your old phone. You trade in your old device and then get a new one.
Verizon
Verizon's deal is a lot more straightforward: finance either the Samsung Galaxy S9, Galaxy S9 Plus, or Galaxy Note 8, and get $300 off the list price. Here's how it will break down:
- Samsung Galaxy S9 – $20.50 per month for 24 months – $492.00 total
- Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – $25.50 per month for 24 months – $612.00 total
- Samsung Galaxy Note 8 – $26.50 per month for 24 months – $636.00 total
Sprint
Sprint's deal is by far the best, netting you a full 50% off the list prices of the latest Galaxy S9 line of phones. However, in order to get the deepest discount possible, you have to sign up for Sprint's Flex leasing program which requires a brand new account or line (no upgrades). You can port your account in from another carrier to create your new line, but you can't upgrade a current Sprint line with this deal.
Under the Sprint Flex leasing program, you get a full 50% off the retail price of your phone, which looks like this:
- Samsung Galaxy S9 – $16.50 per month for 18 months – $297.00 total
- Samsung Galaxy S9 Plus – $21.50 per month for 18 months – $387.00 total
If you want the Galaxy Note 8 instead, there's no hefty discount for the Sprint Flex program. Instead, you'll just do a normal financing agreement and get the $300 off that the other carriers offer. That works out to be $27.50 per month for 24 months (total price: $660.00).
If you already are a Sprint customer and are thus ineligible for the Sprint Flex program, you'll get the $300 off that the other carriers offer.
