Can't hear while calling unless on speaker.

I don't know what it is, but when making a call, I can't hear a dial tone or another person unless I put the phone on speakerphone. No dial tone, no ring, no voice, just silence. If I put it on speaker, I can hear everything fine. Has anyone else had this issue before? Any suggestions? Or do I...
