HP reveals new VR PC backpack and 24-hour laptop for businesses

HP is revealing new PC products made for enterprise and businesses today, but some of them could be attractive to consumers as well. That includes a new VR PC backpack, along with new notebooks that can last as long as 24 hours (yes, one full day) on a single charge.

The newest HP VR PC backpack

This is just the latest version of the HP VR backpack from the company. Previously HP had launched similar models for both gamers and businesses in 2017. The new HP VR backpack for business users includes its recently launched HP Reverb VR headset, and the company says it is 30 percent more powerful in running VR apps than the previous generation products. It allows customers to use and offer VR experiences in a free-roaming environment. The backpack can also still be used as a stand-alone desktop PC when not in use.

HP says the PC VR backpack can be used by businesses to help train employees, or by architecture firms to walk through virtual house and building designs. Finally, location-based VR entertainment companies can use this product to provide high-end virtual reality experiences. HP has yet to announce a price or release date, or hardware specs, for the new VR PC backpack. It did state the battery life will last for one hour, but it's been designed to be hot-swappable so that the battery can be quickly switched out, and a new fully charged battery back can be put back in.

HP also revealed two new EliteBook x360 convertible notebooks, the 1030 G4 and 1040 G6. Both of these laptops are made of aluminum to keep them strong while also offering low weight. Both also offer features like the option to add 4G LTE support, displays that can go up to 1000 nits for working well outdoors, and hardware-based security.

However, the HP EliteBook x360 1040 can also be bought in models with couple of extra features. One model that will be sold includes a display that uses just one watt of power. The model with the 1W screen allows the notebook to keep working for up to 24 hours on a single charge. Also, the keyboard on the notebook is designed to be twice as quiet compared to previous EliteBook models, so you can work in a crowded environment without disturbing anyone.

HP also announced the new Elite x2 G4, the latest 2-in-1 laptop from the company with a detachable keyboard. It is just 2.64 pounds and is 51 percent thinner than previous modes. It includes dual camera privacy shutters, an integrated privacy screen and more. You can get the notebook with either a standard aluminum keyboard or the optional leather folio keyboard.

In addition, announced two new PC laptop workstations, the ZBook 15 G6 and the ZBook 17 GG. The latter notebook is called the most powerful mobile workstation ever by HP, with 9th generation Intel Core i9 processors, NVIDIA Quadro 5000 RTX graphics chips, and a 17-inch screen that is the first laptop workstation to support 100 percent DCI-P3 color. Hardware details, pricing and release dates were not announced.

HP' also revealed some new business desktop and min-PCs, and announced the HP Mini-in-One 24 display. This 24-inch PC monitor was specially designed to house one of HP's mini-PCs on the back of the screen, turning it into a full all-in-one PC that can easily be upgraded when needed.
