Verizon and Qualcomm have been fighting to get approval of their LTE-U technology that uses the same 5Ghz spectrum as common WiFi networks. Google, Microsoft, Comcast and others opposed this recently, but the FCC has just approved some limited performance tests to happen. These tests will take place in Oklahoma City, OK and Raleigh, NC, and they will be monitoring the tests for WiFi interference.
